Our
thanks to everyone who attended last year's fabulous festival -
This year promises to be an even bigger and better event with a full
programme of free entertainment throughout the day for all the
family. We are very excited to be joined by the
Camb's Ass for Local History hosting the first ever open air
history fair in Cambridge - and are honoured to be asked to
host the presentation of the Way to be Awards 2009.
On offer
this year - the world famous Jon Row Storyteller with his
enchanting tales - Just Puppets with shows and puppet making
workshops throughout the afternoon - Cambs Community Circus with
juggling and circus skills - Billy's with another of their amazing
skateboard and BMX displays - Shepreth Wildlife Park with their
display of small animals and bugs - A Mad Hatters Tea Party and
much much more.............. "There was so much
to do last year - we had difficulty fitting it all
in.............."
Once again
there will be a varied and interesting range of craft, information
and charity stalls - Performances in the arena showcasing a number
of Cherry Hinton groups and societies - The Cherry Hinton Folk
Club will again be hosting the acoustic music tent
sessions and there will be refreshments available from the Real
Ale Beer Tent and amazing home made cakes and sandwiches from the
famous Tea Tent... A Live Music Stage will showcase
local young bands - contact us if you would like to appear.
There
is lot's of opportunity for everyone to be involved, so please
contact us if you would like to volunteer, appear in the arena,
book a stall, or have any comments or suggestions for this year's
event.
The
festival team also plan a number of fundraising events throughout
the year including history walks, film nights, dance competitions
and lot's more keep checking the website and local press for
details.
Profits
from the Cherry Hinton Festival and associated events are shared
between local groups and societies in the Cherry Hinton area,
Over the last 2 years the festival has given over £5000 to groups
including Cherry Hinton Lions, CCAN, Colville School, Spinney
School art project, Cherry Hinton local history society, Scouts
and Jazzercise. The festival gives priority to groups taking
part in the festival so please contact us if you would like to be
considered for a grant from this year's event. |
